ABOUT

Robin Souter is a British painter
who has devoted his life to both healing and creativity.

As a retired surgeon at Milton Keynes University Hospital,
Robin brings a profound understanding of the human body and natural forms to his artwork.

Robin’s current practice is increasingly focused on abstraction, alongside a continuing fascination with the power and complexity of wave forms. Through movement, energy, and form, his work explores the dynamic relationship between sea and structure.

Although art has always been central to Robin’s life, his path has not been linear. He pursued art enthusiastically throughout his compulsory education and continued developing his skills during his medical studies. The intensity and demands of a surgical career meant that his creative practice often lay dormant, sustained through sketching and painting whenever time allowed.

Following his retirement from medicine, Robin now dedicates his full energy to developing his artistic vision, embracing the belief that it is never too late to pursue what you love.

Robin’s seascapes are inspired by dramatic coastlines including the sunny Algarve, the rugged shores of Norfolk and Wales, and the remote beauty of the Outer Hebrides.

These environments continue to inform his evolving abstract work, where rhythm, atmosphere, and wave forms remain central themes.

Studio Space

Robin’s studio is nestled within the historic walls of Westbury Arts Centre, housed in a Grade II listed, former 17th-Century moated manor house - a unique creative hub located next to Shenley Wood in Milton Keynes.

Robin is part of the vibrant artistic community - The Artist Collective at Westbury.
